Dog License

All dogs, 6 months or older, residing in the Town of Deerfield must be licensed with the Town Clerk's office every year. 
New dogs must be licensed within 30 days of their arrival to Deerfield.

Purchase Licenses:

  • In-Person at the Town Clerk's office, Monday through Thursday, 9 am to 4 pm
  • Drop Box - Located in the Town Hall foyer, accessible 24/7
  • By Mail - Send the Dog License Application Form (PDF) to:

  • Online through the Town's payment website
  • *A late fee of $50 per household begins May 1st.

Requirements

Proof of up-to-date rabies vaccination (and spay/neuter certificate, if applicable) from Vet must be provided in order to purchase a dog license.

License Fees Per Dog

  • Spayed or Neutered = $5.00*
  • Female or Male = $10.00*

If the dog's owner is 70 years or older, the license fee will be waived. Please submit a self-addressed stamped envelope and your request for a dog license and we will mail it to you! (Late fee will apply if licensed after April 30th)

Dog License Renewal Reminder

A Dog License Renewal reminder is mailed out every January. It is attached to the bottom of your Census (Annual Street List).

Note: When you return your Census to the Town Clerk's office, include the Dog License Renewal form, a copy of current rabies vaccination, and a check for the appropriate amount made out to the Town of Deerfield. We will then mail you a new Dog License along with any Vet paperwork that you included!

Spay/Neuter Voucher Program

Massachusetts residents may qualify to spay/neuter their dog or cat for free through the Mass Animal Fund program. Low-income residents who receive government help may receive a voucher through their local Animal Control Officer. If you are interested in this program, contact Deerfield's Animal Control Officer, Calin Giurgiu, at 413-772-1404, ext. 2104.
